An Analysis Of Hamlet
1356 Words - 5 Pages.... is an extremely complex play. To appreciate the
imagination which went into the creation of this tragedy, let's first delve
into what is putatively Shakespeare's most complex tragedy, King Lear. Lear
has three daughters: Cordelia, who is faithful and unappreciated by Lear,
and Regan and Goneril who receive everything at his hands and betray him.
These themes of misplaced love and filial betrayal are mirrored in the
subplot of the play, the relationship between the Earl of Gloster and his
two sons, Edmund, who is supported and approved by Gloster and betrays him,
and Edgar, who unjustly becomes a fugitive from his father's wrath. The
mirror is whole. In it we view Cordel ....

A Doll's House: A Push To Freedom
1392 Words - 6 Pages.... House", Nora's
independent nature is in contradiction the tyrannical authority of Torvald.
This conflict is concealed by the way they both hide their true selves from
society, each other, and ultimately themselves. Just like Nora and Torvald,
every character in this play is trapped in a situation of unturth. In "Ghosts",
the play Ibsen wrote directly after "A Doll's House", the same conflict is the
basis of the play. Because Mrs. Alving concedes to her minister's ethical
bombardment about her responsibilities in marriage, she is forced to conceal the
truth about her late husband's behavior ( ). Like "A Doll's House", "Ghosts"
can be misinterpreted as simply an attack on ....

Hamlet: Duplicity
2210 Words - 9 Pages.... form a solid opinion about role playing. This
difficulty is not present, however, at the start of the play.
In the first act, Hamlet appears to be very straightforward in his actions
and inner state. When questioned by Gertrude about his melancholy
appearance, Hamlet says, "Seems, madam? Nay it is. I know not `seems.'
(1.2.76). This is to say "I am what I appear to be." Later In Act I,
Hamlet makes a clear statement about his state when he commits himself to
revenge. In this statement the play makes an easy to follow shift. This
shift consists of Hamlet giving up the role of a student and mourning son.
Hamlet says,
"I'll wipe away all trivial fond records, All saws of ....

Iago And Honesty In Othello
1114 Words - 5 Pages.... act, they are used by Iago to force Othello to question his wife’s integrity, and honesty. Shakespeare uses the word by Iago to plant tremendous doubt in Othello’s mind. The word is also used by Iago in the action line. His objective is constantly to make Othello think things without actually being told them, and Iago’s parroting of the word and constant useage do this quite nicely.
Iago initially uses the word honest to mean honourable, in reference to Cassio. Othello has asked him if “he [Cassio] is not honest?” To which Iago parrots back “Honest my lord?” This usage is constant with what Othello means, whether Cassio is honourable or not. However, Ia ....

Things have quieted now for the time being. I enjoy the opportunity to tell you
what I am thinking. I hope I can write again very soon. I want you to know
that I am in good health.
I feel this is a good opportunity to tell the tale of our great victory
over the Thane of Cawdor and evil MacDonwald. Things were looking very horrible,
it seemed like all my troops had perished. Our brave general MacBeth came from
nowhere to the center of the battle and slayed MacDonwald like the dragon he
truly is. MacBeth took a spear and forced MacDonwald's head onto it and
rejuvenated our troops while striking fear into the hearts of the enemy,
Before the smoke cleared ano ....

Film Review: Shindler's List
1016 Words - 4 Pages.... The setting was in the midst of World War III and the Germans had invaded Poland. The Polish people were forced from their homes and into the Ghetto. The Holocaust was a vast evil engine set whirling by racism and madness. Schindler outsmarted it, in his own little corner of the war, but he seems to have had no plan, to have improvised out of impulses that remained unclear even to himself.
It begins with Schindler, a tall, strong man with an intimidating physical presence. He dresses expensively and frequents nightclubs, buying caviar and champagne for Nazi officers and their girls, and he likes to get his picture taken with the top brass. He wears a Nazi party emble ....
