Children And Television
642 Words - 3 Pages.... a certain "wascally wabbit"? Most people
would say "how can a cartoon about a man hunting affect a child?" At first it
may seem that it has no effect, but, looking closer, it is easy to see that Bugs
Bunny has many human traits. Two of these traits are speaking English and
walking upright. Something else that adds to this is that sometimes children
cannot make the distinction between fantasy and reality. Quickly a cartoon
about a man hunting a rabbit can turn into a story of murder. Another cartoon
character that may harm children is Yosimite Sam. When he becomes angry, he
begins to fire his pair of guns into the air and at other characters. This
could cause children ....

Who Is Most To Blame For Macbeth's Downfall?
490 Words - 2 Pages.... took it upon himself to make things happen. After killing Duncan he feared
Banquo for his knowledge of the witches prophecies and had him killed as well.
Macbeth seemed to be losing himself after Duncan's death due to his obsession
with the witches prophecies, so in turn, the witches could be partly responsible
for Macbeth's downfall.
Lady Macbeth can also be held accountable for Macbeth's decline of sanity
and power. Although it didn't take much, her persuasion lead to the killing of
Duncan. She wanted Macbeth to take the rank of king as much as he did.
Pressure from his spouse added on to all the other pressures from the prophecies,
also helped tempt Macbeth to mu ....

L’Atalante & Breathless Response Paper
496 Words - 2 Pages.... are synonymous with “real” mise-en-scene.
There were a few things about L’Atalante that I did like. The photography of the underwater scene was nicely done. I thought it was pretty advanced considering when the film was made. The first mate’s tattoos were cute. (Although they were seemingly shoddily drawn on with magic markers.) I appreciated the actors too. The were good at what they were supposed to do. Even though these few things made L’Atalante almost bearable, I didn’t especially like it.
Breathless, on the other hand, held my interest. There was a definite plot as well as plenty of action and romance. I also enjoyed it because I had the feelin ....

Merchant Of Venice: Shylock The Antagonist?
972 Words - 4 Pages.... of their
profits from trade and moneylending. It is here that the stereotype of
Jews lending money was started. Because of the tariffs placed on them by
the crown Jews took to charging high interest rates to secure profits for
themselves. Here we see echos of Shylock with his usury. Finally the Jews
were ordered out of England in 1254 by Edward I. They did not return to
England until the later half of the seventeenth century. (Lippman 3-4) Jews
were also viewed as devils by Elizabeathan audiences. Old stories
portrayed them as "blood-thirsty murders" that poisoned wells and killed
Christian children for their bizarre Passover ritu! als. (Stirling 2:1)

Hamlet’s Hamartia
735 Words - 3 Pages.... having to ponder over them for a very long time.
Hamartia is a literary term defined as one’s fatal flaw. Every character must have at least one. “ Hamartia, as Aristotle describes it, merely qualifies heroic perfection (Levin, 133).” is excessive thinking. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so” (5, ii, 230). His constant hesitation is attributed to rationalization. It is his hesitation, rationalization, excessive thinking, all combined, to almost literally become his fatal flaw. It is his indecisiveness that almost kills him.
Although from the very opening of the play, Hamlet recognizes that it is his filial duty to avenge the mu ....

Romeo And Juliet
607 Words - 3 Pages.... someone he cares for. For example, when he says "In one respect I'll thy assistant be; for this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households rancour to pure love."(Act 2, Scene 3), he is saying that the only reason he will marry is because he hopes that the marriage will end the hostilities between the two houses. When he says "Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift, and hither shall he come; and he and I shall watch thy waking, and that very night shall Romeo bear thee to Mantua." (Act 4, Scene 1), he tells Juliet how everything will be all right. Unfortunately, for all his good intentions the play still ends in tragedy.

The Crucible: John Proctor Is A Hero
510 Words - 2 Pages.... know. This
is exactly what happens to John. He can not tell anyone and it destroys
his marriage.
John confesses to lechery with Abigail and he also confesses to being
a witch. It was not easy for John to do that. Most people confess
and sign away their lives to a lie. John does not see the point in it. He
can not live a saint so why live at all? John dies with everyone knowing
the truth about him. John says, “You have made your magic now, for now I
do think I see some shred of goodness in John Proctor.” John rips up the
confession he has just signed when he realizes that what he is doing is
just going to make his family's lives worse.

Othello: Act 5 Analysis
327 Words - 2 Pages.... - what you will." (4:1, 42). Iago tells Othello about
Cassio sleeping with Desdemona. This appears to be Iago's smartest move
because this causes the death of Desdemona and Cassio. This part also appears
important to Iago because he is finally made lieutenant.
Othello changes dramatically when he hears all these lies from Iago.
He is now less patient. He hurries through many decisions to be made. Such as
the one to kill his wife. He also jumps to conclusions too quickly. This is
shown when Iago and Bianca are talking about Cassio and Othello misinterprets
them talking about Desdemona. "Ay, let her rot and perish and be damned
tonight, for she shall not live." (4 ....
