Pressures Of Society
565 Words - 3 Pages.... just because his friends and family
told him so. It is not always easy to refuse such thing, Marty had to make a
decision and decided he should go out. By analyzing the pros and cons he made a
decision, basing it on knowledge and commonsense, after all going out is not a
bad thing.
But what if there is no decision? What if the person is forced to do something
that he does not agree with? This can be blamed on the pressure of society as
well, sometimes you do something that you know you don't want just because
someone is forcing you. Marty showed such behavior many times throughout the
play. It was not always a conscious decision every time that Marty did what he
did, he ba ....

Television Violence
1023 Words - 4 Pages.... per hour. This is during prime time and many people might think this is too much for children to see. Also, if you look at how it is depicted and the degree of violence it shows, it could be a very bad influence on children or anyone for that matter. In my opinion, NBC did not do a good job in responsibly showing the violent acts during its prime time hours.
The first show I viewed was Seinfeld at 6:30 p.m. Of all the shows viewed over the course of the night Seinfeld had the most acts of violence in its half-hour programming. There were a total of five acts of violence, which included tripping and hitting people with a cane, verbal threats, and physical slapping ....

Analysis Of Rich And Poor And The Case Against Helping The Poor
1931 Words - 8 Pages.... this view because the other view, that says we should always try to give aid, seems a most obvious and simple answer, and thus does not warrant much additional thought. Also, the question of whether or not each ethical standpoint is valid or has distinct flaws will not be dealt with, but rather a simple explanation as to how each would deal with the topic will be presented.
Suppose Americans did in fact give as much aid as we possibly can, which means we can not spend money on luxuries such as stereos, vacations, alchohol or tobacco. In a society such as this, the members of the richer countries could definetely sustain an existence which is still far superior to those livi ....

Women On The Street
1189 Words - 5 Pages.... Women are another subgroup of the homeless.
Solutions to homelessness are not easily found. But before we can solve
problems, we must be sensitive enough that we create the will to find the
solutions. Often if we do not feel the problem, if some emotional response is
not made, we are not moved to seek solutions. We are often unmoved to even
recognize the questions. We cannot afford to keep walking by.
"Work is a fundamental condition of human existence," said Karl Marx. In
punch-the-clock and briefcase societies no less than in agricultural or hunting
and gathering societies, it is the organization of work that makes life in
communities possible. Individual life as ....

Television Violence And Its Effects On Children
1097 Words - 4 Pages.... there are still differing views over whether or not behavior
is affected by the violence. However, Josephson tends to rely more on the
idea that it is affected and feels that more research should be directed to
this area.
Mostly, attention is focused on factors such as the disinhibition
effect and cue-triggered aggression. Josephson aims to differentiate these
two areas and how they are affected by television violence. The overall
purpose of her study is to research the effect this violence has on boys'
aggression. Special emphasis is placed on factors such as teacher-rated
characteristic aggressiveness in the boys, timing of frustration (before or
after watching t ....

307 Words - 2 Pages.... of students did was
prefudice, he assumed that all black people are against him/her and his/her “
brothers.” That is not true.
On campus at Ohio State I have seen discrimination quite often. White
people walking by a group of black people and saying a racial slur or two
towards them, but not loud enough that they would hear it. Or, I have seen the
same thing vise-versa.
Institutional racism plays a big role on campus. One example is at the
Metropolitan Institution of Technology where a group of African Americans took
over three dormitory floors and named it “chocolate city.” It is clear when an
ethnic group of any kind says that their group can live there and ....

Relationships
848 Words - 4 Pages.... the person who is supposed to be cared for. These are all reasons why never last. There seems to be a lot of this in lately. That is why I sometimes would rather be good friends with a member of the opposite sex than to always be in a relationship with them.
First of all jealousy is normal. Everyone gets jealous some time or another. However, when it is happening all the time, then there is a lack of communication within the relationship. Getting jealous just because the other partner is looking at another member of the other sex should not be a reason to resolve to arguing. There has been endless amounts of arguing in some of the that I have been in because of jealousy ....
