1216 Words - 5 Pages

.... city. Everywhere you go in this city, you'll see homeless people around. Their number keeps growing and growing each day. They are absolutely everywhere. Most of them stand by the freeway exits and entrances. They put up signs trying to get anybody's attention so that they could get some change or even some left over food. Others hang around 7-11 stores or any grocery stores and supermarkets. Some are out there to clean your car or just your windshield so they could get something in return for their efforts even though they only get your car more dirty. As I said before, most of the homeless that we have today put up signs that say "will work for food." ....

The First Date
567 Words - 3 Pages

.... asking a few women about their expectations of a first date, I received a variety of responses. The main requirements were that the man plan the date, pay for the meal, and have a respectful attitude. My expectations are extremely high. First, a man must come to the door with flowers when he picks me up for the date. This has never happened but I am still hoping. If this ever happened, I will know that he could possibly be someone that I have been looking for. A man must also open doors for me. Opening doors, sliding out chairs, and paying for the meal shows that a man is a gentleman. From the information I have gathered, wearing sexy clothes, acting natural, ....

Parental Guidance Against Television Violence
1444 Words - 6 Pages

.... common and that "everyone's doing it"(Eron 617). This message desensitizes children and even numbs them to the reality of violence. By nature, children are naïve and inexperienced, so they need rules and regulations enforced by their parents for their own personal protection and well-being. Parents desire their children to grow up in a safe and stable environment and look to the government for support. However, our government can not be expected to support or solve the problems associated with censoring violent television programs. One of the main reasons why government cannot be expected to censor violent television programming is because of the Constitution’s "fre ....

.... is easy to discern the different perceptions of beauty held by various groups. These perceptions vary greatly abetween groups, which are demarcated by class, cultural, geographical, chronological, and religious borders, to name a few. What may be considered very attractive by one group may even be seen as repulsive in another. The gangster with tattoos all over his body, clothed in attire that is much too large, with rings in all the most unexpected places, and sporting an outrageous hairdo, considers himself very attractive indeed. Yet, so do the tall, smartly dressed businesspersons with their suit, tie, and white handkerchief. Men and women of the Victorian era, when wome ....

.... as its victim.”(Stewart 1) Perhaps the most frequent argument for capital punishment is that of deterrence. The prevailing thought is that imposition of the death penalty will act to dissuade other criminals from committing violent acts. Numerous studies have been created attempting to prove this belief; however, “[a]ll the evidence taken together makes it hard to be confident that capital punishment deters more than long prison terms do.”(Cavanagh 4) Going ever farther, Bryan Stevenson, the executive director of the Montgomery based Equal Justice Initiative, has stated that “…people are increasingly realizing that the more we resort to killing as a legitimate res ....

Definition Essay Of Multiculturalism
491 Words - 2 Pages

.... no where in the minds of supporters of multicultralist ideals; they assumes that indivduality is determined by ethnicity. Instead of encouraging reason and independent judgment, multiculturalism demands obedience to one‘s ethnic group. The purpose of a university is not to be a representative of society but to help develop knowledge and reason. How can multiculturalists say that this is fair to society? A just society is a society that lets one determine his or her beliefs and doesn‘t try to influence them one way or another. Society by definition means people as a whole not as individual groups. “As more and more people begin to regard loyalty to group as ....
