Creative Writing: The Missed Fly Ball
1299 Words - 5 Pages.... turned around, bent down for the ball,
and after the third try successfully grabbed it and stood back up and prepared
to throw. Well the first thing that came to mind was just to fling it up in the
air and hope it makes it to somebody around the base runner. Considering my
previous luck, I just threw it to the first basemen. The throw was not any
better then the catch. It landed 5 feet short and by the time the first basemen
recovered the runner had rounded third base and was at least halfway home. The
runner did score on a close play at the plate. The run gave the other team a
two run advantage going into the sixth inning, which was the last in midget
league. I knew a ....

On Taunting Lacy Lou
793 Words - 3 Pages.... could offer. Trampoline springs sprouted out of the cold ground as if they were gasping for one eternal breath before succumbing to burial. As I traveled further through this jungle, my eyes gazed upon the tree. The tree, our tree, had been a goalie for soccer, a hiding place for man- hunt, and a shelter for all sorrows. The tree seemed to guard the tomb where we had buried her that cold July morning. She had died peacefully and painlessly. At least those thoughts are what I clung to after waking up drenched in cold sweat and tears. With the whisper of a breeze, I was flung back into the watercolors of my memory, and one nightmare mural of my childhood protruded.
The heat la ....

pull to get your cigarettes) and an old fashioned penny gumball machine.
The walls of the room are divided horizontally by molding. The bottom
four feet of the walls consist of wood paneling that matches the benches. The
top half is covered with an ugly brown wallpaper that reminds me of the
wallpaper in my grandmother's house. The wallpaper usually goes unnoticed

They were even less lucky when it came to the matter of getting a girl to ride with them. Mostly because when she would ask: what are we doing to do, they would reply: drive around for awhile.
