Hamlet: A Man Of Many Qualities

The queen, Gertrude, is hamlet's mother and she is probably the living being
that he cares about the most. Unfortunately, one of Hamlet's qualities, which
is revealed in conversation with his mother, is a negative one and that is anger.
His quality is displayed through Hamlet's soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2, Lines
131© 161. Hamlet is angry at his mother for marrying a new husband, his uncle,
Claudius, so quickly after his father's death. This anger shines through in
such phrases such as "Frailty, thy name is woman!"(Act 1,Sc 2, L148) and "Like
Niobe, all tears."(Act 1, Sc 2, L151). At the end of his soliloquy, Hamlet

Tragedy In Oedipus Rex

have taken place much earlier in the story than the characters do. However,
both of these events actually took many years ago.
The fall from grace in Oedipus Rex is when Oedipus, Jocasta, and all the
other characters in the story realize that Oedipus actually did murder Laius
and that Jocasta is indeed his mother as well as his wife. This occurs rather
quickly, very close to the end of the play.
The audience sees this coming long before it actually does, however. In one

Shakespeare And His Theater

descriptive details. Shakespeare's theater was far from being bare, the
playwright did have some valuable technical sources that he used to the best of
his ability. The costumes the actors wore were made to be very elaborate. Many
of the costumes conveyed recognizable meanings for the audience such as a rich
aristocrat wearing silk clothes with many ruffles. Many times there were
musical accompaniments and sound effects such as gunpowder explosions andthe
beating of a pan to simulate thunder.
