Computer Communications: Bus Network
1318 Words - 5 Pages.... in computer science, a
local area network in which each device (node) is connected to a central
computer in a star-shaped configuration (topology); commonly, a network
consisting of a central computer (the hub) surrounded by terminals. In a star
network, messages pass directly from a node to the central computer, which
handles any further routing (as to another node) that might be necessary. A star
network is reliable in the sense that a node can fail without affecting any
other node on the network. Its weakness, however, is that failure of the central
computer results in a shutdown of the entire network. And because each node is
individually wired to the hub, cabling costs ....

Technology: Friend Or Foe?
638 Words - 3 Pages.... be said for the management of computer technology. There is not doubt that computer technology has become central to the operation of global multinationals, financial markets, security surveillance, and as well as everyday life. There is little we can do with a computer interface device that will preserve our identity. Governments acting as a global police force protecting us from ourselves can easily monitor the electronic trail of commands and transactions.
Perhaps the Luddites could see farther into the future than anyone suspected. With regards to the downfall of technology and the role it would play on people's lives, as they became dependent upon technology for su ....

MMX Technology
1403 Words - 6 Pages.... processor enhancement, but what is it? How does it work? What does it mean as far as performance improvements? is the first new chip architecture from Intel in ten years. From a technological standpoint, there are significant changes: MMX defines a set of 57 new computer instructions that extend the x86 instruction set of approximately 80; it has 32 KB of on-chip cache, verses the non-MMX on-chip cache of 16 KB, which enhances performance of even non-MMX applications, and it makes use of Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) for more efficient data processing. The 57 new and powerful instructions are specifically designed to process and manipulate audio, video, and ....

Also a filter selector circuit is built in after the digital block. The user inputs controlling frequency and symmetry are also built into this control block.
Therefore it is clear that the digital block can be divided into 4 distinct blocks, each with its own functionality. These blocks are the control module, counter module, filter control module and 8-bit D/A. The D/A chosen is the DAC0801LCN. It’s specifications can be found in the appendix. The layout of this design is shown below.

Carnegie Mellon University reports, "recruitment of it's software engineering
students is up this year by over 20%." All engineering jobs are paying well,
proving that highly skilled labor is what employers want! "There is clear
evidence that the supply of workers in the [unskilled labor] categories already

Welfare Reform Network. In view of these facts, I wonder if these trends are
good or bad for society. "The danger of the information age is that while in

682 Words - 3 Pages.... a total of $600 billion to remedy." (p. 1) The fallacy that
mainframes were the only machines to be affected was short lived as industry
realized that 60 to 80 million home and small business users doing math or

this "bug." Can this be repaired in time? For some, it is already too late. A
system that is devised to cut an annual federal deficit to 0 by the year 2002 is
already in "hot water." Data will become erroneous as the numbers "just don't
add up" anymore. Some PC owners can upgrade their computer's BIOS (or complete
