Other Minds
2498 Words - 10 Pages.... in looking for ‘knowledge’, we
are not aiming for logical certainties - we are not aiming to show that
any propositions about other minds can be demonstrated with absolute
certainty equivalent to that of mathematical truths. Philosophy ever since
Descartes has tended to be defined by scepticism: either it aims to
produce sceptical theories or it aims to refute them. And sceptics tend
towards extremity in their doubts. It must be stated here and now that
there are not, and never can be, any theories that prove demonstratively
that other minds exist, or that I know others’ mental states. This is not

Against Censoring Harmless Obscene Language
879 Words - 4 Pages.... the first ten amendments, the first being the freedom of

another person's reputation messages that is found demeaning to the individual.
One person may ....

False Advertising
1110 Words - 5 Pages.... elegant black couple sitting together in a theater that appear to be happy. Or advertisements in magazines of a white model and a black model standing together perhaps holding hands are advertisements that are purely fantasy , as a situation in which both races have created a place of security, and equality for the sole purpose of media.
However, I see it differently I feel that advertisements both in magazines and on television there is no such underlying messages. My generation is different because interracial relationships are of the norm and there is more of a chance to find ....

the government, theater, drugs and our economic system.
On the surface, gangs are caused by peer pressure and greed. Many teens

make kids do things that are strongly against their morals.
One of the ways that kids morals are bent so that gang violence becomes
more acceptable is the influence of television and movies. The average chi ....

373 Words - 2 Pages.... It
all began with a man named Abraham Lincoln, he wanted to set slaves free. But
the southern states had large plantations and needed slaves to help, so this was
not a good idea, in their opinion. This controversy led to the Civil War, which
was eventually won by the north, and slaves were set free in America. But people
discriminated slaves very much, and that was not good.
Discrimination of African Americans is not that big now a days, but it
is still out there. Discrimination sort of died out when a man named Martin
Luther King, Jr. expressed some of his thoughts about discrimination. His famous
speech was entitled "I Have a Dream". Back before his speech, African ....
