The students here at Texas Christian University are faced with difficult choices each and every day, and are in dire need of a source of higher direction. Some myths say he lived with a king and queen loyal to Zeus until Hera discovered him, and, in a jealous rage, warped their brains. In this version of the story, Dionysus was turned into a goat by his father in an attempt to hide him from Hera; from then on he had small horns on his head ....

(136 kg), only the crossbar was carried. The crossbar, patibulum, weighing 75 to 125 lb. (34 to 57 kg), was placed on the victim's neck and balanced along both shoulders. Usually, the outstretched arms then were tied to the crossbar. The procession to the site of crucifixion was led by a complete Roman military guard, headed by a centurion. One of the soldiers carried a sign, titulus, on which the condemned man's name and crime were displayed. Later, the titulus would be attached to the top of the cross. ....

.... God’s plans. In the Old Testament stories, God seems to want his earth to be peaceful and without sin and when he sees that the world is corrupt, he decides to conduct a purge. In the first two books of the Bible, there are two distinct covenants made, one with Noah and the other many generations later with Abraham. God talked to Noah and he was chosen to be the father of a renewed civilization after an enormous purge would wipe out the evil in the world. Noah had to undergo many trials and tribulations. He had to experience embarrassment and ridicule because of the nature of God’s requests. His neighbors and friends thought he was nuts because it is not everyday that ....

.... Hindus with contrasting practices and beliefs. Devotional procedures are each individual’s personal responsibility as a Hindu. In fact, ritual, action, and daily routine, different as they may seem, may be what unites all Hindus. They will come closer to Brahman by what best suits them. I believe the worship of millions of different dieties to be another important aspect of individual devotional procedures. I like the fact that new dieties arise every day. The people choose what they worship for themselves. Hindus may be atheists, monotheists, or even polytheists - it is an all-encompassing perspective, as far as I can tell. I believe the idea of Brahman, or the ultimate ....

The victories of the German armies in the early years of World War II brought the majority of European Jewry under the Nazis. The Jews were deprived of human rights. The Jewish people were forced to live in Ghetto's which were separated from the main city. Hitler's plan of genocide was carried out with efficiency. The total number of Jews exterminated has been calculated at around 5,750, ....

.... the thought of the “candle” portraying the freedom that can be found in the United States. The “candle” put into biblical terms would perhaps be the light shining on everything, like a beacon to all the world, showing what can be found in America. To many citizens of foreign countries, America is seen as a paradise, because here if one possesses the desire and motivation a person can be whatever they wish. In the 1700’s, many immigrants came to the New World in the search of this freedom. One of these groups, the Puritans, came in the hope of founding an order composed of pure and untainted Christians. .... And the third tells about a school who has a moment of silence after the pledge of allegiance, and the community is angered because this is supposedly just another form of prayer. My personal belief is that prayer should not be aloud in our nation schools. I myself am a practicing Christian, and choose to pray on my own before tests, and at other times, but I strongly feel that people with other beliefs should not be subjected to my, or even the majority of the class's beliefs. In America, it is a right of the people to choose their belief, or lack there of, and we should learn to respect and honor that. I personally agree with the first two statements. The pictu ....
