Not like its counterparts, marijuana has medical benefits. It is morphine for glaucoma, and cancer patients. If they are allergic to any painkiller, patients could use marijuana to kill their pain. It gives an appetite to AIDS patients. The cloud of suspicion would disappear, and doctors could get on with investigating marijuana's medical uses without fear of controversy.
If you think about it marijuana ....

Gun Control: Is It A Problem?
549 Words - 2 Pages.... two main problems were where do the
rights of people stop and the magistrates' authority begin. According to
Winthrop, people are naturally evil, and if left to their own devices, they
will become even worse. Therefore, authority is a necessity. This same
principle holds true for gun control. People here in the U.S. have the "right
to bare arms," but with that right comes responsibility. As an American with
that right you're not free to shoot anyone or anything at will. Government
should create laws to protect the rights of others.
I believe stricter gun control laws and better education on the use of
guns is necessary. People of the U.S. aren't as rigidly re ....

People Accused Of Violent Crimes Should Not Be Allowed To Post Bail
786 Words - 3 Pages.... and final, reason is that my
rationale strongly agrees with denial of bail to the accused.
In Nebraska, as written in the Statutes of Nebraska, bail is granted
after a judge takes into account the nature and circumstances of the offense
charged. This judge looks at the defendants family ties, employment, financial
resources, character and mentality, having resided in the community, conviction
records, and record of court appearances or of flight to avoid prosecution or
failure to appear. A judge, when deciding if bail is to be granted, does not

Gender Effects On Criminal Sentencing
905 Words - 4 Pages.... constant improvements where
they are needed, and research is a vital part to finding where the problems
are. Criminal sentencing is a large and pivotal part of the American legal
system, and, although equality in all aspects of a criminal trial is the
central ideal, research shows that the system falls short of this.
Nagel and Weitzman (1972) summarized research by various
investigators. When data was compiled on criminal cases, a clear
discrimination was found in favor of women. It was found that women were
awarded lesser sentences than their male counterparts for the same crimes;
these differences were found for both larceny and felony cases. The
leniency given to wo ....

The Death Punishment

execution of a lawfully condemned killer is no more an act of murder than
is legal imprisonment an act of kidnaping". Finally, the same Bible that

It is argued, the death penalty should be banned to prevent the
execution of innocent individuals unjustly convicted of capital murder.
Statistically this has occurred; however, given the lengthy appeals
process, all but few ultimately die, innocent or guilty. The above
statistic applies to all crimes, from theft to kidnaping. Should no ....

1151 Words - 5 Pages.... the case of “Gregg versus Georgia” the Supreme
Court ruled state death penalty laws were not unconstitutional. Presently in
the United States the death penalty can only be used as punishment for

should be outlawed in the United States.
Currently in the United States there are five methods used for executing
criminals: the electric chair, gas chamber, lethal injection, hanging, and
firing squad, each of them equally cruel and unusual in there own ways.
