The Death Penalty: Why We Should Have Capital Punishment?
2325 Words - 9 Pages.... states that the death penalty does not deter murder. Dismissing capital punishment on that basis requires us to eliminate all prisons as well because they do not seem to be any more effective in the deterrence of crime. Others say that states which do have the death penalty have higher crime rates than those that don't, that a more severe punishment only inspires more severe crimes. I must point out that every state in the union is different. These differences include the populations, number of cities, and yes, the crime rates. Strongly urbanized states are more likely to have higher crime rates than states that are more rural, such as those that lack capital punishment. ....

Our Prison System Sucks
501 Words - 2 Pages.... to our talk, and they where telling me how they learned how to
make certain crafts, learn how to sow, and many other things. To me, that
sounds awfully like a camp I was made to go to when I was young. Some
people in prison even have television, others treat it like a hotel. This
disgusts me! This doesn't sound at all like a prison. A prison is a place
where people are supposed to be punished. Not treated like guests. There
is a fin line between being punished and being over punished however. I'm
not saying that each person should be beaten daily, or made to stay in a
cell by themselves with no one to talk to for an eternity. The person
should be punished according t ....

Rape
911 Words - 4 Pages.... is through rape prevention. These
techniques are very important in decreasing the vulnerability of individuals,
but in order to eliminate the occurrence of rape from our society, we must first
examine its causes more deeply so that we can take collective action. We must
understand the sociology of rape in order to effectively work towards the
elimination of it.
Despite the necessity for rape prevention, it must focus on eliminating
the conditions in society which make women easy targets for rape. Victim
control teaches women to avoid rape, but doesn't reduce the threat of rape.
Furthermore, rape cannot always be avoided, no matter what precautions the woman
takes. It ....

How Decriminalisation Could Solve The Drugs Problem
1546 Words - 6 Pages.... terror in governments around the world that in many countries a person can have their life coldly and legally taken away, simply for distributing them?
Is it because of their power to warp the human mind and run amok with the senses upon which we so desperately rely? No. Our world is inescapably full of narcotics, yet many of them, including powerful and dangerous ones such as alcohol and tobacco, are happily tolerated by society. The nutmeg in your kitchen cupboard can have narcotic effects if smoked (and, used in this way, it can also give you cancer), yet few people have cause to think of this when they sprinkle it into their cakes and biscuits. Chocolate contains an a ....

The Death Penalty
607 Words - 3 Pages.... Capital punishment has become an
increasingly controversial issue over many decades. The problem lies
between, is the death penalty being accepted in murder cases or ruled out
completely. While some people feel that Capital Punishment will not
discourage crime, Capital punishment should be legalized in all states,
because it is morally just and it will deter crime.
The many opponents of capital punishment who are against it feel that
the death penalty is not a deterrent and that it is barbariaertic of the
past. It has no place in a civilized society today. One of the biggest
arguments against capital punishment is people feel that it violates the
eighth amendment ....

Child Sex Tourism Bill In Australia
1986 Words - 8 Pages.... offence was committed. Also the changes intend
to deal with organisations that may run or promote child sex tours, such as
travel agencies and the like, who have specifically run sex tour packages.
Defences to these offences such as stating that the defendant had no knowledge
of the child's age will be also targeted, as currently, this is a major
stumbling block on the course to justice. Finally to save time and cost, video
link hearings will be setup between the child in question overseas, and the
Australian courts.
The changes stated above were required to not only protect abused children
residing overseas, but to prove that the Australian Government is in touch wit ....

Juvenile Delinquency
982 Words - 4 Pages.... juvenile courts, where the main aim is to rehabilitate
offenders, rather than to punish them. But the term juvenile delinquency
itself has come to imply disgrace in today's society. A youngster can be
labeled a delinquent for breaking any one of a number of laws, ranging from
robbery to running away from home. But an action for which a youth may be
declared a delinquent in one community may not be against the law in
another community. In some communities, the police ignore many children
who are accused of minor delinquencies or refer them directly to their
parents. But in other communities, the police may refer such children to a
juvenile court, where they may officially ....

Capital Punishment Is Murder
1285 Words - 5 Pages.... to your child that just because he didn't start it, it doesn't make his actions right. To borrow and old phrase, two wrongs don't make a right. No matter what someone does to you it doesn't make it okay to do it back, right? I believe this exactly. This is the reason that I disagree with capital punishment. and nobody is justified in killing another human for what they've done in the past.
There's really no other way to say it. A murder is a murder, there are no two ways to look at it. When one human loses their life due entirely to another human, what would it be called beyond murder? Capital Punishment does just that.
These people that are on death row in th ....
