“In Cold Blood” By Truman Capote
630 Words - 3 Pages.... paper and decides to visit the town and find out what happened. He begins his research before the murderers are captured. He is there when they are brought in to jail. He lives in the town and he gains the trust of the townspeople and the murderers.
The book was a success, but Capote was never the same after. He spent six years of his life on this project, and it was hard work. While imprisoned, Perry and Dick considered him a true friend and wanted his help to get a pardon. Capote felt torn by his affections for the two and by knowing of the murders they had committed.
Capote did not begin the book with the murder scene. Instead, he gave the reader a view of the ....

encourages his individual thought, and he realizes that independent thought
is rewarding, and that he must strive to become a real individual. Although
this is true to a certain extent, Bernard does not realize that he would
much rather attain social recognition. At least, not until the opportunity
presents itself. Thus, through a series of events, Bernard uses the
curiosity of the society to his advantage, fulfilling his subconscious wish
of becoming someone important; a recognized name in the jumble of society.
This ends when the curiosity of others ends, and as a supreme result of his
arrogant behaviour, he is ....

852 Words - 4 Pages.... Eileen.
Eileen Vance was the little girl that Stephen wanted to marry when he was
younger. She is described to have ivory hands and golden hair, which confuses
Stephen with the phrases, "Tower of Ivory" and "House of Gold" which is part of
the Roman Catholic Litany of Our Lady. Later when Stephen is at school, he again
thinks about Eileen. Stephen gets his first sensual experience from Eileen when
she puts her hand into his pocket and touches his hand. Stephen gets quite
confused with the terms of the Litany of Our Lady so he starts to associate the
"Tower of Ivory" and "House of Gold" to Eileen. The way James Joyce describes

Images From The Dhammapada
536 Words - 2 Pages.... bucket will get filled, regardless that is
what the teachings of Buddha are saying. Evil may take over mind little by
little if you are not careful. That is why one should think clearly at all
times, and not allow evil to enter their mind. Water is a frequently used
metaphor in The Dhammapada. Another example of this occurs on page 14,
number 4 in the section titled "Flowers".
"Just as a raging flood sweeps away a sleeping village,
So does death claim a man of distracted mind,
As he continually seeks more and more
Of life's fleeting pleasures."
Once again the image of water was used, but in a much different
context. Here The Dhammapad ....

Crime And Punishment - Sufferi
720 Words - 3 Pages.... Not in the physical sense of the crime itself. The reader doesn’t hear about how heavily the murders are weighing on his heart, or how he is tormented by visions of the crime. He doesn’t feel the least bit guilty about having committed the crime, only his pride’s hurt. He doesn’t mention the idea of the pain that might arise from recurrent visions of the crime. Raskolnikov never again recalls the massive amounts of blood everywhere, the look on Lizaveta’s face when he brings down the axe on her head. These things clearly show that the crime isn’t what might cause him suffering, or pain, it is something else.
After Raskolnikov is sent off to Siberia, he doesn’t f ....

2. Kino's canoe was old and water proof. It was a family heirloom. Kino's
pride in the boat was acceptable because not only is it an heirloom, it
represents his living, and it is part of the family.
3. Juana is dissatisfied by her own method because it was free and lacked
the doctor's authority. Juana's reaction to the appearance of the scorpion
was fear for her first born. Then, after the sting, she wanted to take
Coyotito to the doctor. He would not treat it.
This demonstrated not only a war between culture's, but a war between
social classes. If the baby were white or the parents well paid, but
lacking immediate money, the doctor would hav ....
