She gave her pride in herself; pride to prove to Leopolda that the Devil was not within her and that she could succeed even as the wife of an Indian. There are relationships in the novel that contained true love. Many of these relationships were not marriages, but they outlasted everything. Nector Kashpaw is possibly the most significant character in that sense in the novel. His love life ties the ....

Universe went to pick up the people when it was hijacked by Universe's stewardess and was forced to land when Universe had landed The Hijacker killed her self by shooting herself in ....

Ralph then assigns the Choir, led by Jack, to be the hunters. Then Jack, Ralph, and Simon set out to explore the island. Near the end of their journey, they encounter a wild pig. He especially loves those that have stories and details about the treatment of man. His own officers say that he acts "like the King's yarn in a coil of Navy rope." I believe that quote says that he is a puppet of the King. All of these aspects of Captain Vere seem to make him a "robot" of the King. The King says and the robot obeys. When Billy kills Claggert, Captain Vere has to decide whether or not Billy should be punished and if so, how he should be punished. He decides to hang Billy. Then the possibility of a revolt on the ship comes ....

.... If he doesn't do these things he will be an outsider and society will not accept him as much. As he is on the river, he lays back and relaxes all the time. Whenever he goes back into society, he finds that he can not live within its limits so he always denies who he really is and makes up some false identity all the time. When he finally runs from society at the end, one last time, it was clear that he believed that society was too much for him. Also that they would try to make him civilized again, which he didn't want, so he goes off alone to finally be truly free of his troubles and restraints. This is also seen in the character Jim. While Jim is with Miss Watson, he is ....
