Interpretation Of Ibsen's "A Doll's House"
1322 Words - 5 Pages.... that she must
discontinue the role of a doll and seek out her individuality.
David Thomas describes the initial image of Nora as that of a doll wife
who revels in the thought of luxuries that can now be afforded, who is become
with flirtation, and engages in childlike acts of disobedience (259). This
inferior role from which Nora progressed is extremely important. Ibsen in his
"A Doll's House" depicts the role of women as subordinate in order to emphasize
the need to reform their role in society.
Definite characteristics of the women's subordinate role in a
relationship are emphasized through Nora's contradicting actions. Her
infatuation with luxuries such as expensiv ....

Romeo And Juliet: Tragedy, Love Story Or Both?
581 Words - 3 Pages.... This is the tragedy
that sets off the train of other misfortunes, and if these conflicts were
resolved, none of the further things I am about to mention would have happened.
The tragedy of Romeo's love for Rosalind, she too was a Capulet, and so that
barred his love for her, although she also did not love him.
Quite obviously, the misfortune of Romeo and Juliet's forbidden love. This is
the basis of the whole story. For two people to love each other and not be able
to show their true feelings for each other is ultimately very frustrating. It's
"Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" style.
The tragedy of Tybalt's death. Another result of the family fight, this was a
tragedy for ....

George Lucas And Movies: No Future?
1475 Words - 6 Pages.... technology
and the advances of the future. THX 1138 and Back to the Future both portray
technology as a danger to society that could ultimately lead to its downfall.
George Lucas made THX 1138 long before he became famous in his later
movies. He based the film on his movie that he used as his graduate project and
thesis. It was his first attempt at directing and producing a Hollywood film.
His goal was to create a film that would show the future state of the world if
it was to continue on its path of the search for perfection of everything. He
shows the future as a place that many people would probably not want to live or
to be associated with.
Lucas shows that e ....

Richard III: Impact On The Audience
576 Words - 3 Pages.... is the way that the audience is made to feel empathy for the vicious Richard.
Richard is a terrible man. That fact cannot be disputed. He killed anyone who even tried to question him or was in his way to the throne. This included even the innocently helpless children who actually have the true right to the throne. This would make any audience hate the man, however, Shakespeare gives Richard a string with which to pull at the audience’s heart: his grotesque deformities and the effect they have on Richard and his life. Richard uses this string to his advantage during the first thirty-five lines of the play. How could anyone hate a man who pours the disappointments ....

Othello: Iago's Large Appetite For Revenge
620 Words - 3 Pages.... has
much inner turmoil that he harbors close to his chest, but when the opportunity
arises, he describes his deeds with a passion. In the first of these monologues,
he makes his intentions perfectly clear. He implies that Othello has had an
affair with his wife by stating "I hate the moor, And it is thought abroad that
'twixt my sheets He's done my office". The irony of this statement is that in
the next line he says that he does not know it for a fact, but because he
suspects it, he will act as if for certain! This gives me the impression from
the beginning, that Iago is insane and exceedingly paranoid, going so far as to
set up a cache of murders, just on the suspicio ....
