477 Words - 2 Pages.... Only at first may it be worse but they will realize that the most precise thing they have is life. In the long run they will learn to live without me physically, but in their souls I would forever be alive.
Friends do not share souls as families do. Friends come and go, some quicker then others but rarely forever. You do not always share as much love with your friends then compared to your family. To die for friends is questionable. Only the forever friend, will I die for, but how could I tell the future. One does not know the future, and for that reason is my value towards my friends questionable.
As for my country I refuse to risk my life for dictator who is on a p ....

Oedipus Rex: The Punishment Of The King
1163 Words - 5 Pages.... murderer is killed,
or driven from the land (pp 4-5). Thusly, when it is revealed that Oedipus
himself murdered Laius, then banishment seems to be the only option. Death,
in my mind, is not valid simply because of what it might do to the
kingdom's people. Even though it seems that Oedipus has not been a
particularly good monarch, in fact his only major accomplishment seems to
be killing the Sphinx all those years ago, having a king put to death could
have serious repercussions on the rest of the kingdom. So in the end, the
only way to cure the plague and keep the kingdom stable seems to be the
banishment of Oedipus. In this case, the question of whether or not he
deserved to ....

Death Of A Salesman : A Social Criticism
1780 Words - 7 Pages.... change with each generation so that the book will never be closed on Death of a Salesman. Because it would take a short tome to discuss all the classic arguments on Miller's excellent work, the focus of this theme will be on Salesman's value as a comment on society. Willy does not meet America's twentieth century economic standards of success, therefore he is seen as a failure; he absolutely will not entertain the possibility of finding a job more suitable to his talents, even though perhaps he could function as a member of society if he did; and he lives in a deluded bubble, angry, self-righteous, too proud for his own good... qualities that simply do not survive in Ame ....

Antigone: Afterlife
1329 Words - 5 Pages.... they did while they were alive was to please the many gods they worshipped. They built temples for their Gods, made statues to symbolize their Gods, and had a different God to explain things that we now say are an act of mother nature. It may seem rather foolish to us when we study their beliefs and compare them to modern day beliefs.I am sure the Greeks would have considered us to be heathens and put us to death for our ways and beliefs.I think Antigone thought her act was courageous and valid. I myself would not have risked my life to ensure a proper burial for anyone, whether it was in modern times or back then.To go against authority and break the laws given by ....

Macbeth: Power Is The Paradox
951 Words - 4 Pages.... two may decline
together.
The power from knowledge causes discomfort. As often has been said,
ignorance is bliss. After Macbeth is promised the throne, Banquo asks why
Macbeth is less than ecstatic. "Good sir, why do you start, and seem to fear /
Things that do sound so fair?" (Act I, Scene 3) Macbeth's new knowledge makes
him uncomfortable, as he realizes the implications. His first thoughts
considering murdering Duncan appear, and he is scared. After he commits the
murder, Macbeth says, "To know my deed, 'twere best not know myself." (Act II,
Scene 2) Knowing that has committed such a vile act makes him uncomfortable. It

Anti-Semitism In The Merchant Of Venice
499 Words - 2 Pages.... you think that the play itself is racist, and
provides a forum in which racism can grow and become only a bigger problem. I
think that this is a flawed way of looking at it. I see the play as a
confrontation of a modern day problem which society still faces. Rather than
providing a forum for racism to grow, the play provides a forum for anti-racism
discussion, if all proper steps are taken. When I say if all proper steps are
taken, I am referring to having this play taught by a teacher, who can explain
the plays meaning in it's fullest so that the students do not miss any important
points from it.
Another point that may have been missed when the presentation was ....
