Invisible Man: Denial Of Education For Blacks

When one thinks of Brown verses the Board of Education, or the Black-faced Theatre, one thinks of the segregated South. These images could also remind one of the novel, Invisible Man, written by Ralph Ellison. This novel is a realistic depiction of American black life during the 1 .... Middle of Paper .... is the veil being lowered. Symbolically, Ellison is showing us a sense of blindness, or being invisible to the world. Thus giving the reader the illusion that education is being hidden from the blacks, denying them of a proper education. “I am standing puzzled, unable to decide whether the veil is really being lifted, or lowered more firmly in place; whether I am witnessing a revelation or a more efficient blinding” (36).
