Ray Bradbury Beginning of Paper American novelist, short-story writer, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, and poet. was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 22, 1920, the third son of Leonard Spaulding Bradbury and Esther Marie Moberg Bradbury.
