Cultural Relativism
1546 Words - 6 Pages.... and recurring faults.
states that the beliefs and customs a culture adopts as being correct is morally acceptable for that culture; therefore there is no universal truth about morality and morality is relative to culture. It also encourages tolerance towards apparently diverse cultures and thus different moral views. For example, to a certain culture abortion may be morally acceptable, cultural relativists would say that abortion is morally right for that culture. Whereas if another culture finds abortion to be wrong, then it is morally right that abortion be banned, for that culture. allows for diversity and differences between cultures, which in turn supports peace ....

579 Words - 3 Pages.... the country
would be poor and therefore the government would have to collect more taxes.
Also the standard of living would decrease because of their income that is way
below the average income. Right now, there is also a big gap between the low
income people and the high income people and this is becoming a problem. Low
income people are starting to get lower wages and higher income people are
starting to get higher wages.
Another problem in the society is violence. Today, there are many
violence in the streets, some schools, and also in the media. These violence in
the streets can cause the neighbourhood to become a bad place to live. This
will cause people not to g ....

These are inaccurate terms for these businessmen. They were not barons because they all started penniless and they were not robbers because they did not take it from anyone else. Vanderbilt got rich by making travel and shipping faster, cheaper, and more luxurious. He built bigger, faster, and more efficient ships. Genocide
1127 Words - 5 Pages.... and 1940's to destroy the Jewish population of Europe,
known as the Holocaust. By the end of World War II, 6 million Jews had been
killed in Nazi concentration camps.
The known objective of the Nazi rule was Jewish extinction. In November
1938, shortly after the assassination of a German diplomat in Paris by a young
Jew, all synagogues in Germany were set on fire, windows of Jewish shops were
smashed, and thousands of Jews were arrested. This "Night of Broken Glass"
(Kristallnacht) was a signal to Jews in Germany and Austria to leave as soon as
possible. Several hundred thousand people were able to find refuge in other
countries, but a nearly equal number, including ....

keep their own identity while participating in the civilization as a whole.
When people take on the responsibility of their citizenship and follow the laws
and rules founded for them, freedom is allowed to work for everyone.
"In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a
world founded upon four essential human freedoms," stated Franklin Roosevelt in
his 1941 President's Annual Address to Congress. "The first is freedom of
speech and expression-everywhere in the world. The second is freedom of every
person to worship God in his own way-everywhere in the world. The third is

Human Rights And Trade In China
909 Words - 4 Pages.... of China.
It is true, of course, that China has self-initiative to improve human rights; one example is the pro-democracy demonstrators in the now infamous Tienanmen Square in Beijing. But, with a more aggressive standpoint on human rights, the U.S. can prevent disasters like the massacre of the hundreds of innocuous demonstrators in that square. On June 4th, 1989, unsuspecting people gathered in Tienanmen Square, unaware of the machination the government had devised to cruelly murder them. Government soldiers then proceeded to kill them in cold blood. The incident was a tragedy for the victims, obviously, but it was also devastation to their democratic purpose. The C ....

The Feelings Of Falling In Love
1363 Words - 5 Pages.... two sets of feelings that are the basis of modern romantic
relationships. The first is attraction. Attraction is the excitement you feel
when falling in love. To better explain this feeling, attraction is what you
feel when you have met someone new who really excites you and you begin to feel
aroused when thinking about this person. Although this sounds very sexual, this
feeling is just the first of what will most likely become a sexual passion.
When in this first state of attraction, your body feels different - more bouncy,
more energetic, and in need of less food and sleep. When in this state of
attraction, one feels very happy and different every time that they are ....

Coersion/Rape
1508 Words - 6 Pages.... not. The debate now is rape, and what constitutes that once
horridly thought of crime. In the opinion of some, rape is no longer just a
physical act of violence that accompanies uninvited sex. Rape, as defined by
some, can occur even when the two parties involved agree verbally or otherwise
to have sex. This to me, seems absurd. In the most basic terms, and with the
simplest definitions, no means no, and okay, yeah, yes and please, all mean yes.
The term "NO" is not very complicated, and is probably the word that was
repeated to us the most as children, so we should all get that one right. But
still, how can yes mean no? Apparently through a term known as "verbal
coers ....
