Prohibiting Speech That Offends
603 Words - 3 Pages.... on race, gender, ethnicity, religion or sexual
orientation.
That's the wrong response, well-meaning or not. The First
Amendment to the United States Constitution protects speech no matter how
offensive its content. Speech codes adopted by government financed state
colleges and universities amount to government censorship, in violation of
the Constitution. And the ACLU believes that all campuses should adhere to
First Amendment principles because academic freedom is a bedrock of
education in a free society. No social institution is better suited to
fight bigotry than the university. It can do so in its courses and perhaps

Family Values
887 Words - 4 Pages.... with each other. Unfortunately, my parents were seldom around
during my childhood stages. Therefore they were rarely home to guide me through
good family values. Now that I am an adult my parents are persistent to spend
time with me and teach me values not taught to me when I was a child. I believe
it's like teaching an old dog new tricks. A child needs direction from the
childhood up to adulthood not the reverse. I recall coming home from school to
an empty house. My parents were working to provide us with a home, things we
needed and wanted. Regardless, as a child a family was just as important. A
popular soul singer, Luther Vandross, sang a song whose lyr ....

Instilling A Child's Values
573 Words - 3 Pages.... acquisition of good morals. A
parent must show the child the virtues of good judgement by using good judgement
in their own life. If a child witnesses an unethical act performed by his
parents, he will think that it is okay. The fact is that children who didn't
have good parents, generally, don't grow up into very respectable adults. The
old saying goes: “Monkey see, monkey do.” It may sound like a cheap cliche,
but there is a lot of truth to it.
While raising a child, a parent might find that sometimes the child is
not learning the morals that the parent is trying to instill in their child. In
that case, a parent should discipline him. Discipline shows the ....

The Latino official tries to explain this by saying "They need something to live on, they use their myths to have a sense of hope." This puts a false interpretation of these people in the mind of the viewer. The viewer takes this statement and weather he/she knows about it; they associate all Latin Americans to this idea. Thus, Latin Americans are seen as inferior to this person. Another problem with this episode is that the local authorities can't figure out what is going on until the "white" FBI agents come along and "enlighten" ....

Immigrants that came through Ellis island usually got jobs earlier and easier. An Utopian Society Is Wrong For Our Society
335 Words - 2 Pages.... great quantities of languages, that would mean all people should
speak one language too, that would be very hard to acheive.
An additional reason is that there is no uniqueness, things that would
usually set people apart don't stand out as much, If you were very
intelligent people probably would not bring it up because it would draw
attention. If somebody brought attention to somebody smarter then others,
people would feel jealous, angry, and not as smart.
One last reason is that people get to make their own choices. Something
people enjoy in life is getting to choose who they marry, where they live,
their job and other things like that. Choices are usually about every ....
