Right-Wing Hypocrisy
268 Words - 1 Pages.... These groups preach that anyone who disagrees with their
opinion is anti-Christian and therefore an agent of the devil. I disagree
totally with that assessment. Just because someone is pro-choice or
doesn't attend church regularly doesn't mean he is not a good Christian. I
thought the teachings of Jesus encouraged tolerance and forgiveness, not
persecution.
For instance, these groups preach "family values", with the father
working, the mother cooking and cleaning, and the kids being subservient to
their parents. I am surprised more women don't find this sexist and
offensive. Roles in each individual family are, and should be, different.
People should adapt to ....

Appearance Vs. Reality Of Modern Music Affect On Teenagers
1123 Words - 5 Pages.... This is the
important thing to remember when dealing with the subject at hand.
There are many reasons why teenagers cling to "rock stars", but there
are always more popular reasons than others. One main reason that this occurs
is because of the accessibility of what these "rock stars" are publishing.
Think of all the things that teenagers have in front of them day-in, day-out;
radio, television, clothes of peers etc. All of which are covered with popular
musicians. So if they are so accessible then most people are aware of this so
they start to pay attention to it, they see these extravagant people with no
boundaries, limits or regulations. Most of modern "rock sta ....

Homosexuals: A Suspect Class?
2624 Words - 10 Pages.... is more prominent
than ever: Lesbians and gay men are fighting for civil rights in the courtroom
and in Congress, there are gay characters on prime-time television shows, well-
known public figures openly discussing their homosexuality, and there is
virtually no one who can claim that they have never had contact with a
homosexual. In the middle of all this publicity, there lingers a pending
Supreme Court case in which the fate of the homosexual lies: Romer v. Evans, a
case that dominated Colorado that has come to "symbolize the controversy over
gay legal rights" throughout the nation. This paper will trace the elements
behind that case, and attempt to focus on the steps ....

Commercial Vices
507 Words - 2 Pages.... prohibit alcohol and failed. The
Mafia made its money by bootlegging alcohol. The gangsters of the twenties
and thiries were in the alcohol business just as the drug peddlers of
today are in the drug business. Both settled trade disputes with gun fire. When
alcohol prohibition was repealed and sale by licensed dealers was instituted,
the Mafia went out of the liquor business and the revenue agents assigned to
stop the illegal business went out of business too. The quality of regulated
liquor became assured and taxed, not high enough to motivate bootlegging,
became a source of public revenue. Consumption of legal alcohol became only
slightly greater than the consumption of il ....

What Is Love?
401 Words - 2 Pages.... different definition of love. Some see love as being able to endure me, some see love as being able to please me, and others see love as being able to obey me. All of these are true to some and violently wrong to others, but that is the beauty of love, it is available to all. Romance is therefore a relative thing. The fact is that romantic love, is a different thing to different people. To me, romance is a fleeting thing. It is a step towards a better thing, towards love that isn't physical. Romance epitomizes the best and worst of love. It is a thing that I at once desire and despise.
The other definition of love is the fraternal love of others. A person loves their family ....

Child Rearing In Victorian Times
1105 Words - 5 Pages.... and routine, not to
mention quite lonely at certain times. Yet others argue Victorian children
should have been quite content, given the fact that they were treated to only
the best of toys, clothes and education and it was absurd to even consider the
child being neglected.
Mothers and Fathers were seen as special, glamourous guests, due to the
fact that they were never around and rarely seen by their children. This was
because child and parent led totally separate existences, they were only
summoned to appear before their parents at a certain set hour of the day. Many
Victorian children like Winston Churchill and Harriet Marden recall such cold
relations bet ....

The Prevalent Issues Of Surrogate Parenting
1766 Words - 7 Pages.... whose existence both husband and
wife can feel responsible.
Surrogate parenting is highly controversial by its very nature.
Nevertheless, surrogate parenting is attracting wide spread attention as a
viable alternative for infertile couples intent on having a child. Contract
surrogacy is officially little more than ten years old, although surrogate
mothering is a practice that has been known since biblical times. In 1986 alone
500 babies had been born to mothers who gave them up to sperm donor fathers for
a fee, and the practice is growing rapidly.
For this reason there are many questions and doubts that arise from this
subject. Often there are many legal difficulties t ....
