Anarchy
991 Words - 4 Pages.... be one person wanting power over another. In an ideal anarchist's commune, every single person must use his or her freedom responsibly. The power-hungry human will ultimately destroy peace. "Anarchism strives to reach peace, but there will always be those in opposition to peace, either to obtain power or to ultimately corrupt utopia," states Dave Roediger in the Haymarket Scrapbook.
Even though remains a theory, the idea itself has existed for over two hundred years, not only outlasting civilizations, but thriving throughout time. The French Revolution,
begun in 1789, had a strong pro-anarchist element. Anarchists also played a substantial role in the revolutionary mov ....

Annexation In Texas - The Basics
600 Words - 3 Pages.... creation from many states into one consistent union.
Annexation works pretty much the same way, in that a larger body envelops and consumes the smaller one into itself, so that the larger may prosper. As could be said of the residents in our own city of Houston, Bellaire was only recently annexed to the dismay and objection of its citizens. This would preclude to the ideology of Thomas Aquinas, inasmuch as he discussed Veritatis Splendor Aterna Infernum, meaning the splendor of truth is an eternal hell. The truth being that the residents of Bellaire did not really have any coinciding choice in the matter, and thence having to live through the hell of Houston politics a ....

The Devastating Effects Of Int
842 Words - 4 Pages.... in the book Night: “I witnessed other hangings” (page 60). Millions of peope died because of the hate in some people. Hate can be shown in many other forms too.
One form is clearly shown in Wilma Elizabeth McDaniel’s short story entitled “Who Said We all had to Talk Alike?“ A woman from the Ozarks named Neffie, applies for a job in California. Neffie is sent back after just one month because she “added an “r” to many words that did not contain that letter.” This incident was devastating to the children she was caring for because they really liked Neffie and the way that she cooked and told stories. This also made ....

The Encroaching Darkness
394 Words - 2 Pages.... Shed a bit of their indifferance to the world to hunt down and destroy the "malicious intruders" who endangered the secrecy of secrets too dirty to be shown to the public. "These people could probably see how much time you spend last year on phone---!" the media screamed, inciting the vulgar to action. "Hackers might be able to look at your public records!" another "news" organization cried. They were afraid of having anyone but Phil, the socially inept record-keeper, knowing thier deep, dark traffic violation and burned at the technological stake. The pople helped in being keeping themselves, ignorant; they destroyed their would-be saviors, the men and women who were ....

is the fertile soil , the farms cover a greater percentage of the land
than in any other province.
Each year the province exports millions of bags of potatoes which
is the main crop, other important farm products include, beef cattle, hay,
hogs, milk, barley and other grains, and vegetables.
The island lacks valuable minerals and cheap sources of power. In
addition, transportation to and from the mainland is very expensive,
therefore manufacturing on P.E.I. has developed slowly. Manufacturing is
now the third most important economic activity.

The provincial flag, adopted in 196 ....

Whats Happiness
542 Words - 2 Pages.... Happy”.
Throughout the article Thomas makes very valuable points, two that I have to agree with 100%. The first point that I agree with is having faith. Having faith in a religious way or just in life in general. Both types of faith will bring you an inner happiness. You look at those people who are sick or very ill. The one who has faith seems to make a stronger and quicker recovery. You’ll also notice that from these people that they are very at peace and bring happiness to those around them.
The second point that he makes that I agree with is sleep, sleep, sleep. I’ve notice that in life you need to sleep. People who have trouble sleeping bec ....

Reforestation
795 Words - 3 Pages.... is also another
reason. Arguments say "the United States could help slow the atmospheric
accumulation of carbon dioxide by replacing old-growth forests with faster-
growing young trees". A new study of young and old forests says how this
is in fact not true. Loggers have said that new trees pull the carbon
dioxide better than old trees, and this may seem true, but it is not. There
is one point being overlooked from all of this. The older, larger trees
can store much, much more carbon dioxide than a new tree could. By cutting
and burning these magnificent seasoned trees, the CO2 is being released
back into the atmosphere. These releases of carbon dioxide add up in our ....

Hume And Descartes On The Theory Of Ideas
612 Words - 3 Pages.... but instead, humans could think about God
by other means. A major strength of Descartes was his idea of objective reality,
which is one's perception of reality. If something accurately represents
something, then it is objective reality, according to him. I believe this is a
strength of his because of his convincing argument, "If the objective reality
of any one of my ideas is found to be so great that I am certain that the same
reality was not in meā¦therefore I myself cannot be the cause of the idea, then
it necessarily follows that I am not alone in the world, but that something
else, which is the cause of this idea, also exists" (75). Descartes weakness is
his id ....
