The community was called Brook Farm, and was established in 1841. Everyone in the community shared labor and leisure time equally. Ripley believed that leisure was the most important step to understanding yourself. The problem with Brook Farm was that the residents ended up believing in a form of communism, despite its objective of being a community where the individual would be able to become ‘whole’. .... the theme of change. Between 1607 and 1783, during the Colonial Period, one evident example of change is the production of the Declaration of Independence. The purpose of this document was to declare independence over Britain (p110). I am convinced that symbolizes change because the Americans wanted to have a new form of government. They were fed up with the British's way of running things they decided to take matters into their own hands. By demanding the British to step aside, they were changing their form of government, and symbolically, a whole lot more. Vietnam was the first war ever to be properly televised, the public saw for the first time the true brutality of war. The public started to question Australia’s involvement in the war. Moratoriums were held around Australia in protest against conscription and Australia’s involvement in the war.
