There are no signs of grass because grass was never planted. The people dwelling in these developments have no sense of pride in their community since its appearance is rundown and nothing is kept up. The cracks in the basketball court's cement have weeds growing out of them; proving the unkempt conditions. The children don't ever see anything more than the long strip of housing developments that run consecutively down one strip of Chicago's south side. These projects are like jail because once ....

.... in March 1917. There was a severe shortage of bread, which then led to enforce rationing and long lines at stores. The mere thought of hunger or even starvation led to demonstrations and strikes. On March 8, a huge crowd marched through the streets to demand the government to put an end to the bread shortage. Police officers broke up the march, but a few days later the demonstration grew and became stronger in the process. On March 11, troops were ordered by government officials to end the riots, but instead of restoring order the soldiers stood by or even joined in the chaos. The desertion of the local army caused the government to crumble. Czar Nicholas II resigned ....

This theory not only holds true to the Arabic and Asiatic states, but also for colonized countries in South America and Africa. Europe used their technological might and arrogant attitude to exploit the globe. However, to gain support of domestic citizens, European writings were used to paint a picture of a clan of people living in darkness and void. The scholars of that day carefully selected the publicity of their new conquests by cloaking it with a sentiment of charity and Christianity. In the next passage, in which the sergeant says "Which smok'd with bloody execution," he is referring to Macbeth's stalwartness in which his sword is covered in the blood of the enemy. After these few references to honor, the symbol of blood now changes to show a theme of deception and treason. Lady Macbeth starts this off when she asks the spirits to "make thick my blood." What she is saying by this, is that she wants to make herself insensitive and remorseless for the deeds which she is about to commit. I would propose that traditional ways of life have been replaced with uncontrollable change and unmanageable alternatives, but that these changes and alternatives eventually create something that may result in the society that traditionalists actually seek after; the balance between Nature and Technology. Modernity itself is merely the sense that the present is a transitional point, not focused on a clear goal in the future but simply changing through forces outside our control.
