Buttercup, on the other hand, made some poor choices. Westley was intelligent. He displayed this characteristic when he poisoned the cups of wine. He poisoned both cups to guarantee that Vizzini, played by Wallace Shawn, one of the kidnappers of Buttercup, died. The intelligence was in the preparation. Westley had built up immunity to the poison before so that the small amount didn’t affect him when he drank it, but affected Vizzini. Westley also showed intelligence when he couldn̵ ....
