This book is a very colorful book in the sense that it uses colors to cover so many different aspects of peoples lives. Fitzgerald uses the color yellow to symbolize moral decay. On (Page 18) he writes " The lamp-light, bright on his boots and dull on the autumn-leaf yellow of her hair." He is talking about Tom and Jordan Baker, and he is suggesting that tom might be heading for moral decay. In the book there are several things that Tom does that might prove this. First of all Tom is having an affair with Myrtle Wilson. ....

Everything Gatsby does, every move he makes and every decision he conceives is for a reason. He wants to achieve his ideal, Daisy. Gatsby's "purposeless splendor" is all for the woman he loves and wishes to represent his ideal. Furthermore, Gatsby believes he can win his woman with riches, ....

This particular tale of an enigmatic assassin who agrees to take one last job -- the murder of Charles De Gaulle -- is one of the best suspense novels ever written, and Fred Zinneman's 1973 film, with the screenplay by Kenneth Ross, is the most fait ....

.... Jared's father, raised in an orphanage, seems anxious to please everyone, a commonplace reaction of individuals who, as children, experienced parental indifference or inconsistency. Though a successful tax attorney, he is jumpy around Conrad, and, according to his wife, drinks too many martinis. Conrad seems consumed with despair. A return to normalcy, school and home-life, appear to be more than Conrad can handle. Chalk-faced, hair-hacked Conrad seems bent on perpetuating the family myth that all is well in the world. His family, after all, "are people of good taste. They do not discuss a problem in the face of the problem. And, besides, there is no problem." ....

The harsh factors they face in every day life make them mentally strong. The father hunts night after night to supply food for his family. When things do not go well with the hunting he has to resort to stealing. Not because he is a criminal, but rather because he has a family to support. When his punishment comes he takes it like a man and goes off to prison. Sounder demonstrates his own courage by taking a shotgun blast to the face while trying to prevent his master from being taken away to prison. Wounded and ....
