Sex In Advertising
1506 Words - 6 Pages.... couple of years,
commercial content, like programming, has gone through a significant maturing
process. Sex has become a driving force. NBC's vice president for advertising
standards, Rick Gitter, acknowledged that the 1990's reality can't be denied
(Baltimore Sun; pg. 1G).
Ann Klein's company's ads are some of the most striking ads that are
carried in the main stream media. They have received only a few negative
letters, but they've drawn a huge amount of attention (Baltimore Sun; pg. 2G).
"We wanted the women to say, 'Hey,' and we have gotten a fantastic response,"
there's a fine line between doing something new, different and interesting, and
angering your cust ....

Romeo And Juliet: The Capulet Family
636 Words - 3 Pages.... but
he very soon backs down and lets Capulet have his way.
Perhaps the reason why this happens is because the “inferior”
person is somewhat intimidated by the “superior.” This intimidation that
some of the characters produce on each other shows that there is not a
great deal of communication in the family. Throughout Act I, there were
several more examples of characters yielding to others and not standing up
for what they believe. For instance, when Lady Capulet brought up the idea
of Juliet marrying Paris, Juliet just went along with the concept , even
though that was possibly not what she wanted.
An even more significant instance of such a thing occurring ....

Freud's Oz: Freudian Views In The Wizard Of Oz
1709 Words - 7 Pages.... Americans, with growing
up." With this in mind, it seems a good way of evaluating The Wizard of Oz is
by Dorothy's process of growing up, her maturation. Also, since Dorothy's
adventure to Oz is clearly in the form of a dream, it seems a good way of
analyzing Dorothy's maturation is by looking at this dream compared with real
ones, and using modern dream analogy from the Freudian perspective.
The act that spurs the entire action of the movie, according to Freudian
Daniel Dervin ( Over The Rainbow 163 ), is Dorothy witnessing the "primal scene".
The "primal scene" refers to a child witnessing sexual intercourse between
mother and father; an moment that is both terrifying ....

Hamlet: Many Interpretations
385 Words - 2 Pages.... and then speaks of lugging the guts into
another room.
Most interpreters of Hamlet start with the assumption that the tragic hero
has a clear and sacred obligation to kill Claudius and to do so without
delay. The question is then why does he wait so long to do so. It is
argued that if Hamlet had taken prompt action, Gertrude, Polonius, Ophelia,
Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, Laertes, and Hamlet himself may have survived.
A reason must then be drawn from one's own interpretations of Hamlet.
Following two renound interpretations of Hamlet, two major conclusions can
be made. First, Shakespeare's tragedy is a work of surpassing interest and
genius, and the tragic hero is univers ....

Macbeth: Tragic Hero
461 Words - 2 Pages.... the murder of Duncan.
When Duncan arrived at Inverness, Macbeth controled his ambition for the
time being and did not kill Duncan. The failing of his decision was soon
reflected by Lady Macbeth who called him a coward. From then on, after the
murder of Duncan, Macbeth entered into a life of evil.
Since he overcomed his good nature, he no longer needed to be with his
friend Banquo. He wanted to protect his ambition, by killing the king, and
now he killed Banquo, due to the prediction of what the witches said about
Banquo's son becoming the king. Macbeth wanted to ensure that he would
reach his ambition without problems.
Macbeth, who now no longer needed any encouragemen ....

Hamlet's Madness
743 Words - 3 Pages.... madness. Hamlet talks with his father
and is told,
Hamlet: If thou didst ever thy dear father love-
Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder.
Most would say that the fact that he saw the ghost of his dead father would
be enough to warrant that he is insane. The only fact that hinders this
observation is the fact that others saw the ghost as well and were even the ones
who told young Hamlet of his appearance.
Many may see Hamlet being insane only by the worldly view of him being
different. Though towards the end of the play in Act III, Gertrude calls her son
to her chambers to discuss the reasoning of his putting on a play so closely
related to the ....

Romeo And Juliet Versus West Side Story
670 Words - 3 Pages.... is spoken while in
West Side Story there is sililoquy, but it is in song. While both equally
express the character's feelings at the moment, it is my feeling that West Side
Story's musical style brings the viewer/listener further into the play and makes
the play more effective. An example of this is when, in Act II, Scene II, of
Romeo and Juliet, otherwise known as the balcony scene, Romeo expresses his
thoughts in a sililoquy until Juliet shows up. While in Romeo and Juliet all of
this is spoken, in West Side Story, this is written as music shared between
Maria and Tony.
Another major difference between these two stories is that in Romeo
and Juliet, Juliet see ....

The Role Of Fate In Antigone
450 Words - 2 Pages.... that she too is subject to the curse. The acts of Oedipus are contrary to the gods and the deities must reconcile all products of his deeds. Thus, Antigone is doomed from the moment she is born, her acts of civil disobedience are just the strings the gods use to manipulate their puppet.
Next, Creon’s pronouncement that Polyneices must not be buried pits Antigone against earthly law, and it is the will of the gods that she bury her brother because that is the only just action. Antigone, from the moment from the declaration, is destined to die because it is her fate and her duty to bury her brother. This civil disobedience is a tool of the gods to govern earth but h ....
